Disclaimer ๐
Last updated: June 6, 2026
This page pulls together all the "before you read further" notes you'll find sprinkled across Brave Little Bites โ into one place, in plain English. If you've been here before, none of this will surprise you.
1. Medical disclaimer ๐ฉบ
Brave Little Bites is an educational resource, not medical advice. Every recipe, snack idea, blog post, and downloadable on this site is shared for informational and educational purposes only.
All carb counts you'll see here are estimates. They vary by brand, ripeness, serving size, the day of the week, and probably the phase of the moon. Always read package labels for current nutrition info. Always verify carbs and insulin dosing with your child's endocrinologist, CDCES, or care team.
Nothing on this site replaces a conversation with your child's medical team. If you're making a treatment decision โ adjusting insulin, treating a low, deciding whether to send a snack to school โ talk to them, not us. You are the parent. You make the calls. We're just the friend in your corner sharing what's worked for our family.
2. Affiliate disclosure ๐
As an Amazon Associate, Brave Little Bites earns from qualifying purchases.
Brave Little Bites is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. We may also participate in other affiliate programs (Walmart, Target, Shopify partners) over time, and we'll disclose those too.
Here's how it works in plain English: when you click one of our Amazon links and buy something โ anything, not just the linked product โ Amazon may pay us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra. Ever. Your price is the same whether you use our link or not.
We only link to products we've actually used on our own kid, or that we've vetted carefully. We will never recommend something just for the commission.
3. Brand mention disclosure ๐ฃ
Sometimes we mention specific brands or products without affiliate links โ usually because the brand doesn't have an affiliate program, or because we found the product at the grocery store and want to give credit. In those cases, we receive no compensation. It's just a real recommendation.
If a brand ever pays us for a sponsored post, partners with us, or sends us free product, we'll say so clearly at the top of that post. Promise.
4. Personal experience ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง
Everything you read here comes from one family's lived experience with Type 1 Diabetes. The recipes work for our daughter. The snack list works for her school day. The carb math works for her insulin-to-carb ratio.
Every T1D kid is different. What works for our daughter might not work for yours. Insulin sensitivity, exercise levels, growth spurts, hormones, illness, stress, sleep โ they all change the math. Use what we share as a starting point, not a prescription. Your kid, your care team, your call.
5. External links ๐
We link to other websites โ Amazon, blog posts from T1D researchers, recipe inspirations, support communities. We don't control those sites, and we're not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or accuracy. Use your judgment.
