1. Who we are 🐆

Brave Little Bites (bravelittlebites.net) is a small family-run resource site for parents and caregivers of kids living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). It's run by Jennifer Mendez-Nunez — a T1D mom — out of Texas, USA. This privacy policy explains, in plain language, what we collect when you visit our site, how we use it, and what your rights are.

2. What information we collect 📝

We try to collect as little as possible. Specifically:

• Email address — only if you sign up for our free snack guide or recipe drops. You give it; we keep it.
• Basic page-view data — if/when we add an analytics tool, it'll be anonymized (no names, no full IPs). We'll update this page when we turn it on.
• Shopify customer data — if you buy something from our shop, Shopify collects your name, email, shipping address, and payment info to fulfill the order. We never see or store your full card number.
• Affiliate click data — if you click an Amazon link, Amazon may set a cookie so we get credit if you buy. We see counts (number of clicks), not who clicked.

3. How we use it 🥪

The short version: we use your info to actually deliver the thing you asked for, and to make the site a little better. That's it.

• To send you the free snack guide if you signed up.
• To send occasional recipe drops, new printables, or updates (you can unsubscribe any time with one click).
• To ship/deliver any products you buy from the shop.
• To understand which recipes and posts actually help so we can make more of those.

What we don't do: we don't sell your email or personal info to anyone. We don't share your data with advertisers. We don't build profiles to follow you around the internet.

4. Third-party services we use 🤝

We use a handful of trusted tools to keep the site running. Each one has its own privacy policy:

• Shopify — handles our shop, payments, and customer accounts. PCI-compliant.
• Amazon Associates — our affiliate program. When you click an Amazon link from our site, Amazon sets a cookie (typically 24 hours) so we earn a small commission if you buy something. It costs you nothing extra.
• Pinterest & Instagram — we share recipes and tips here. Following us or saving a pin is governed by their privacy policies.
• Cloudflare — hosts and serves the site, and protects it from spam/abuse. Cloudflare may log basic request data (IPs, browser type) for security.
• OpenAI — we sometimes use AI behind the scenes to draft recipe ideas or blog posts (which Jennifer then edits with her T1D mom eye). We don't send your personal info to OpenAI.

5. Cookies 🍪

Our site uses functional cookies only — the kind that remember things like whether you've dismissed a popup. We don't use tracking or advertising cookies.

When you click an Amazon affiliate link, Amazon sets its own 24-hour cookie on your browser. That's how affiliate programs work, and that's how we earn anything to keep the site running. You can clear cookies any time from your browser settings.

6. Children's privacy 👧

Brave Little Bites is written for parents and caregivers of T1D kids — not the kids themselves. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you're a parent and think your child has submitted info, email hello@bravelittlebites.net and we'll delete it right away. (This is COPPA-compliant.)

7. Your rights ✋

Wherever you live, you have the right to:

• Access — ask us what info we have about you.
• Correct — fix anything that's wrong.
• Delete — ask us to remove your info from our list entirely.
• Opt out — unsubscribe from emails any time (every email has a one-click link).

If you're in California (CCPA) or the EU/UK (GDPR), you have extra protections — same idea. Just email us and we'll handle it within 30 days.

8. Security 🔒

Our whole site runs over TLS (https). Payments are processed by Shopify, which is PCI-compliant — meaning we never see or store your credit card number. We do our best to keep what we do hold (mostly emails) safe.

No system is bulletproof, though. If anything ever happens, we'll tell you.

10. Changes to this policy 📅

If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. Big changes will get an email or a banner on the site so you don't miss them.
